Product Details

SAMe was first discovered in the early 1970s. SAMe (S-adenosylmethionine) is a naturally occurring compound found in all living organisms. In humans, SAMe is found throughout the body and is involved in many important biochemical processes. As we age, however, the production of natural SAMe declines.

SAMe comes from Methionine, an amino acid found in protein-rich foods. The process of Methylation happens billions of times a second, affecting everything from fetal development to brain function. It regulates the genetic expression, preserves the fatty membranes that insulate our cells, and helps modulate the action of various hormones and neurotransmitters, including serotonin, melatonin, dopamine and adrenaline.

SAMe supplementation may help to temporarily reduce aches and pains resulting from overexertion or stress, and may help to support mood health. And because Protocol for Life Balance SAMe is enteric-coated, it can safely pass through the acids of the stomach in order to reach the vital areas where it is most needed.
