Saw palmetto not only inhibits the bindingof DHT to cellular receptors, but also has alpha1-adrenoceptor-inhibitory properties. Alpha1-adrenoceptor antagonism may be responsible for sawpalmetto's ability to provide support to the urinarytract and prostate. Saw palmetto extracts have alsobeen found to inhibit the biosynthesis ofproinflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes. Pygeum extract decreases prolactin and cholesterollevels in the prostate, which in turn decreases uptakeand reduces the number of binding sites fortestosterone in the prostate. In addition, pygeumextract, like saw palmetto, interferes with thesynthesis of proinflammatory prostaglandins.Pumpkin seed and nettles are thought to have similarproperties. Citrus bioflavonoids, vitamin E, vitamin C, zinc andselenium provide potent antioxidant protectionagainst oxidative damage to the prostate. Vitamin D-3 is reported to inhibit cell proliferation andencourage apoptosis. Ingredients: Formula(#84074-120X)
